RECAP: Kevin Love scored 42 points and grabbed 16 rebounds as Minnesota led by as many 20 and never trailed in an important win Wednesday night at Target Center.

Boosted by Love’s 18-point third quarter, the Wolves led 82-72. With Love on the bench for the first four-plus minutes of the quarter, the Wolves extended the lead to 12.

With 17 assists, Ricky Rubio set a new career high and tied a franchise record, including another torrid start with four assists on the opening five baskets.

All-star starter Paul George led Indiana with 35 points

MEANING: The Wolves (26-28) returned from the all-star break and beat the team with the best record in the Easter Conference.

ETC.: The Wolves now embark on a five-game Western Conference road trip through March 3. Only two of those teams – Portland and Phoenix – are ahead of the Wolves in the standings.
